S’poreans urged to adjust to longer lifespan by working longer

SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has called on Singaporeans to adjust to longer lifespan by continuing to work as long as they can.

Meanwhile social attitudes and institutional structures need to be updated to support older workers. Speaking at a conference on reinventing retirement on Thursday, Mr Lee said the government is updating Singapore’s employment laws and structures.

But simply raising the retirement age will not magically keep older workers employed longer, he said.

Mr Lee added that Singapore is legislating not to further delay the retirement age but to require employers to offer re-employment to workers at 62 for another three years until 65, though not necessarily in the same job or at the same pay.

One-fifth of Singapore’s population will be 65 years and older by 2030. This is nearly one million people, three times the number today. – CNA/ir

Just because you are old doesn’t mean you can slack. Go, clean the floor!

Somehow, words have failed me.

Seem to be unable to express myself in anyway.

There are resolutions to be made, dreams to be fulfilled and things to be done. Yet none of these I could type here.

As usual, I am as emo as I can possibly be. Swinging from pure happiness to ultimate restlessness.

But one thing I am sure, life has been good to me.

Somehow feel like I am undeservingly blessed.
